What is the Difference Between WAEC and GCE/WASSCE?
The conduction of Both WAEC and GCE is by the same board (WAEC). However, the normal WAEC examination is for senior secondary school students. These students must be in their final year in the secondary education system to qualify for this exam.
Students in SS1-2 may not qualify to sit for this exam except because they will join the SS3 students before the commencement of the examination.
However, the case stated above is not advisable hence students may miss some important things they need to have learned following the due academic process.
Meanwhile, the GCE or WASSCE examination is for individuals who probably did not write their WAEC examination at the right time. We call this type of candidates ‘private candidates’ so not do not wear uniforms to write their examination.
However, the registration process for both WAEC and GCE is almost the same as well as the result-checking process.
On that note, there is not much difference between WAEC and GCE except that the former is for school candidates while the latter is for private candidates who may have missed their time or probably failed WAEC for as much as they tried to pass it.
